Tuff Mustard are a refreshing change to what the Gong has been producing. As they morph into the beautiful butterfly that their DNA has pre determined, the real beneficiaries are us, the audience.
This weeks Song Of The Week: [Tuff Mustard – Bing Bong]
Tuff Mustard really put the time into making their songs. Sure, yeah they’re funny and nonsensical, but that aside, the actual tracks have a bit of effort involved in producing them. Kyle & James, the dynamic duo, are certainly a pair of extremely creative and focused individuals.
If you’ve ever attended a Mustard show you would understand and appreciate the planning that is involved. Playing to a backing track live on stage is always difficult, especially when there’s 12 balloons and a beach ball hitting you every 3 seconds. From their costumes to their balloon blowing skills, their creativity always shines, changing elements and themes from show to show. Their performance will not run dry for a long time to come. Their tap is open and their reservoir is overflowing, I suggest standing under the tap and letting the Mustard wash you all over, like you’ve never been washed before.
Tuff Mustard always pull it together and have heaps of fun to create a consistently unforgettable performance. I urge you to follow them on their socials and attend as many shows as you can. After all the planning, writing and producing they’ve done, they certainly aren’t little mustard caterpillars anymore. I’m looking forward to seeing the many stages and evolution of what is : Gong’s greatest – Tuff Mustard.
