S.O.T.W – Basil’s Kite – The Sun Is Smiling

“I didn’t know what was happening but I think I may be pregnant now” – Basil’s Kite audience member

Basil’s Kite are an exceptionally talented band from the north shores of Wollongong (and now also Katoomba) who blow minds, melt faces and generally confuse the masses.

They are the type of band who clear a room out of fear, much like pioneering gore metal, some audiences can’t handle the level of performance and talent being displayed. Although the one’s who stick around inevitably become cult fans, following the band around to all their shows and watching all their film clips, only after picking their jaws up off the floor of course.

The first time I saw Basil’s Kite I almost pissed myself. Out of excitement, anticipation or just straight up joy, I’m not too sure, but I’m going with a combination of all 3. They’re performing tomorrow night – Thursday April 4th – at Rad Bar, Wollongong. Don’t miss your chance to catch the newly renovated Basil’s Kite live in action! Go see them and ask about that time they campaigned to play with Smashmouth or if their name has anything to do with Cap’n Jazz – Both interesting reactions.

I’m stoked to say this weeks Song Of The Week is – The Sun Is Smiling (live) – Which you can hear using the audio player side of screen or below the article on mobiles, or download the album which it’s from through their Bandcamp page below.
